The 2023 Springton Riesling is a blend of fruit picked from blocks 7 and 8. It is pale straw yellow in colour with tropical fruits of pineapple and guava on the nose. A vibrant palate of lime over lemon with a tangy sherbet finish and lingering acidity. An Eden Valley Riesling to drink now or lay down for years to come.
We entered the 2023 growing season with above average soil moisture and got off to a good start. This was followed by a cool, wet spring that fortunately had a positive effect on vine growth resulting in the development of long loose bunches with good air flow that minimised disease pressure. Fankfully, a mild summer provided a long, cool ripening period, and despite our concerns, a relatively late vintage progressed at a relaxed pace, with reasonably good yields, and importantly, excellent quality.
